The post is a bit older, but timeless. Carta author Till Westermayer thinks about parasocial interaction: an interaction that is only social on one side, for example a soap viewer who strongly identifies with the action on TV. Westermayer is now drawing a line to social media such as Twitter, where the timeline mixes tweets from friends, personal acquaintances and celebrities, with celebrities having a professional interest in the interaction (if they even act at all).
Is it only like this on Twitter, or are social relationships – and this goes beyond strong and weak ties – less firmly and clearly defined outside of social media than it might generally seem?

Why secret services should be abolished
Annika Kremer argues with the Netzpiloten why secret services must be abolished, among other things because secret services are uncontrollable and resistant to learning:
The BND, the GCHQ, the NSA, they all cooperate in monitoring our telecommunications. Just the details differ from case to case - these cases have one thing in common: they show the three-letter authorities as resistant to learning, lying and hostile to democracy. That's why they should be abolished. This is not naive wishful thinking, but an indispensable prerequisite for sustainable politics.
